After new windows?
If you are looking to get some new windows, you may be trying to decide which is the most suitable for you and your property. As specialists in double, triple glazing and laminate Windows, we can give you great advice on the most suitable.
Here is a quick summary of the main differences.
Double glazing – 2 panes of glass, with good energy efficiency.
Tripe glazing – 3 panes of glass, noise reduction and very good energy efficiency
Laminated Glass Windows – Mainly for reduction in noise so suitable for people who live on main roads or near railway lines or airports for example.
It should be noted that we specialise in all types of windows and we can provide these in the colour and style of your choice. If you are looking for window designs and ideas, then please view our gallery.
Which type of window is right for you?
Prior to simply buying new windows, consider the following:
Energy efficiency and heat retention – Although renowned as being better when it comes to retaining heat, the difference between triple and double glazing is negligible these days. With most people finding that new double glazing is sufficient.
Noise level: If you live in a noisy area such as next to a busy road, then laminate windows may be a better choice, as they will help to reduce noise transmission.
All round use – Double glazing is often seen as the best choice for most people. It offers great heat retention and is more cost effective than triple glazing.
If you are struggling to decide then please feel free to get in touch and let us give you free impartial advice.
Looking for a new door?
These days there are great choices when it comes to front doors, not just with the colour and style, but also with the materials.
Composite and uPVC are the most popular materials used for front doors, but there are some key differences between the two.
Composite doors are made from a combination of materials, you have an insulated core composite door for energy efficiency or a solid core door. Both doors are called GRP doors (Glass Reinforced Plastic). This makes them very strong and durable and very good at insulating against heat and cold.
Both uPVC and Composite doors are available in a wide range of colours and styles, and at Harlequin Windows of Swindon, we pride ourselves on being able to find the ideal door for you. Ensuring you have the door that perfectly complements your home. If you are thinking of getting a new door and looking for some ideas, please view our door gallery. Alternatively you can find our more information about all the doors we can supply here.
Which type of door is right for you?
If you are looking for a strong, durable, and well-insulated door, then a composite door is a good choice. However, composite doors are more expensive of the two.
If you are on a budget, then a uPVC door may be a better choice. But note, when it comes to uPVC, the style options are more restricted than composite doors.
The front door is the gateway to your home. And we often find that when people sell their home, it is one item that they look to replace, as it gives a great first impression to potential buyers when they are faced with a new solid looking stylish door.
Ultimately, the best way to decide which type of door is right for you is to weigh the pros and cons of each option and consider your own needs and budget.
